About Oman

Often referred to as the paradise of the Gulf, Oman is indeed one of the most picturesque countries in the Gulf. Surrounded by pristine beaches and craggy brown mountains, the Sultanate holds immense opportunities for all, be it tourist, traders, businessmen and for joint ventures.

Strategically located at the crossroads to the other Gulf countries, Oman offers easy access to the U.A.E., Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia by road, air and sea. The Sultanate also offers excellent infrastructural facilities and boasts of the most advanced telecommunication network in the world.

The Economy

Oman also has one of the fast growing economies in the world today. A country that remained sheltered till the late 60’s, Oman caught the Arab nation by storm by its dynamic growth. With wealth from oil exploration and under the able guidance of its ruler His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the Sultanate flourished. Growth in economy saw an immense demand for quality products, which resulted in increase of imports. Oman has been importing from over 100 countries around the world vis-a-vis exporting to less than hundred countries.  Besides, Oman has a flourishing re-export market to Yemen, Iran and to all GCC countries. Customs duty ordinary payable is only five percent on general products. The exchange rate of Rial Omani is 0.386 per U.S. Dollar. In a very short time, the country has made rapid economic progress. The trends spell advancement, growth, industrialization and diversification.
